this weekend we picked that bucket list back up,
and checked out american ice company for 'beers, steers & picnic tables' (3 of our fav things)
any place that serves a "pickler sampler" is okay with me.
their "swachos" (pork nachos) are also delicious.
then we joined some friends next door to see the lumineers & old crow medicine show at 9:30 club, which was amazing. we were actually more impressed with the lumineers than with ocms. i loved that they had a female bassist.
on saturday, we ventured out to wolftrap performing arts center & saw an amazing production of 'westside story'.
we actually kinda thought we were going to be seeing a play...
but quickly realized what we were actually seeing was the national symphony orchestra performing the music to westside story, alongside the movie!
(we really should probably read our tickets, but whatever.)
it ended up being so cool! basically watching a classic movie on the lawn, with the national symphony playing the accompanying music. pretty amazing. i also looove the music in westside story, and so was tapping my feet and singing along the whole time.
wolftrap is pretty awesome, and i'm so glad we did this before leaving dc. sitting on the lawn is so laid-back; you can bring in whatever you want, spread out wherever you choose, and hang out for as long as you want. (well, i'm sure they would kick you out eventually.) it is a great way to spend an evening under the stars outside of the city, and a pretty genius concept for a performing arts center.
and yes, those are leftover papa john's paper plates that we are picnic-ing on.
so we like pizza, sue us.
