euro recap: lauterbrunnen valley

next on our trip was lauterbrunnen, an adorable little town in the valley between two major mountains - about 10 minutes outside interlaken. if you are looking for a quieter alternative to staying in interlaken, and a good base-point for some amazing hikes in the bernese oberland, lauterbrunnen is a great spot. the town basically consists of one main street, and is home to two beautiful waterfalls, stabbauch falls and trummelbach falls - both of which are worth a visit.

i cannot recommend the adorable yellow hotel staubbach enough. this no-frills bed & breakfast has the friendliest, most helpful staff, amazing views of the staubbach waterfalls, and a hot breakfast. these were our bedroom views:

we took a rainy 45-minute hike to the trummelbach waterfalls which are the world's only glacier waterfall that you can go inside of via elevator. they are loud and powerful!

we had two great dinners in lauterbrunnen as well. we tasted our first swiss rosti (um delicious) on the front porch of the wonderful hotel oberland restaurant.

for our second night, worn out from a trip to the top of europe, we stopped by the co-op, local cheese shop, and bakery, and had a swiss picnic on our porch, overlooking the waterfall.

not too shabby, lauterbrunnen.
