Restaurants, Restaurants

I could easily make an entire bucket list solely of restaurants I want to visit in DC before moving.  Truthfully, we had a running list of DC restaurants going long before we decided to move.  I have finally come to terms with the fact that I will not get to all of them, ever, and will probably never accomplish eating at the entire Washingtonian's 100 Best Restaurants List.  (Although, we have probably come pretty close.)

Honestly, what I will miss the most about DC is the food scene.  There are so many good places to eat, and new places opening all the time that it's impossible to keep up.  WW and I have so many memories of fun and interesting meals we've had up here, and our eating experiences really have been some of our favorite DC experiences.

Rather than trying to visit every restaurant in one summer (and have to be fork-lifted back to Texas), we decided to focus on returning to places we have really loved going to, while trying out the top few new spots on our list.

So, basically, there are a lot of restaurants on the bucket list.  Some "places to revisit", and some "try for the first time".

Last Saturday, we revisited Bar Pilar for a dinner and NBA finals-watching date.

WW is really easy-going.  Usually when we go out to eat, it's somewhere I have read about, drooled over, and begged him to take me to.  He really makes very few dining demands, and is generally happy with wherever I suggest.  (Like I've mentioned, I'm a lucky girl.)  However, this is one restaurant that he has consistently mentioned since we ate brunch there months ago, and has kept wanting to return to.

This is an Ernest Hemingway-inspired bar (named after his fishing boat), with delicious small plates that change all the time, and terrific cocktails.

They have a new upstairs dining room, but we always like to sit at their downstairs bar, where they play an amazing lineup of Motown music that I could listen to all night long.  It helps that they also have a 50 inch TV that WW could watch all night long.

Truly a win-win.
