Pope Benedict accused of "crimes against humanity"

Brethren, peace and good to you in Jesus Christ. This, according to CNN:
Victims of abuse by Catholic priests asked the International Criminal Court to charge Pope Benedict XVI and other top Vatican officials with crimes against humanity, a victims' group announced Tuesday.

This story is developing. We'll bring you the latest information as soon as we get it.

Commentary. This is no longer about obtaining justice or just compensation for victims of sexual abuse by clergy. Nor is it an attempt to hold accountable "the real culprits" behind the abuse scandal. No, this is a calculated act of hatred against the Church and her pastors, an attempt to destroy the Church as it were, or to humiliate her pastors so thoroughly to make the Magisterium of the Church ineffective in the public and private arena. This is also another prongue of the malignant effort by these devil-induced lawyers to strip the Holy See of recognition as a sovereign state in order to plunder her.

I pity the victims and the families of the victims who lent their pain to these minions of the evil one. By turning their pain into hatred they have compounded the effects of the sins of the clergy so much that they have now become sharers of the same sin of abuse. This transmogrification from pain into hatred stains their soul in grave sin and if unrepented, will have eternal consequences.

Sure, money will allay their fears of eternal damnation, money does that. The applause of militant unbelievers will also mollify their conscience, they do that too. That's the only thing they are good at. Still, the plaintiffs and their lawyers are now prima facie examples of how sin and its effects, when unrestrained by conscience and unleashed by the world and the flesh, corrupts even the best of intentions.

Brethren, let us pray for the Successor of Peter, the Holy Father Benedict XVI. He has been hated ever since he saw the selfish worship of self that the 1960's promised disguised as "freedom" and "liberation." The enemies of the Church have never forgiven his election in 2004 - I remember their reactions to this day.

The unseen warfare waged against the Church is becoming increasingly visible. Let us resist the devil, and he will flee from us.
